AIM (Advancing Innovative Mindsets) Kits are one of the coolest ways to get children engaged in STEM. AIM Kits are project-based kits that are available by request for all grade levels. Each AIM Kit comes with an Interesting STEM Lesson, Practice Materials, and a Physical Project or Virtual Experience for students to complete. Each month, on the first Sunday of the month, a new AIM Kit will be released for each grade level. Our new virtual AIM Kits include all of the resources inside our AIM Kits along with a list of household materials that can be used to create the Physical Project.
This Month's AIM Kit is making Lava Lamps. Lava lamps are not just fun to watch—they also teach us about density and chemical reactions!
Have you ever wondered why the blobs in a lava lamp move up and down? It’s all about density! Density is how much "stuff" is packed into a certain space. When you mix oil and water, they separate because oil is less dense. Add an effervescent tablet, and watch as bubbles form, lifting water droplets to the top. When the bubbles pop, the water drops back down, creating a cool lava effect. With this kit, you'll create your own colorful lava lamp while exploring the science behind it!
This Month's AIM Kit is making a Hovercraft. Have you ever wondered how hovercrafts float above the ground, seemingly defying gravity? With this simple project, you’ll get to build your very own mini hovercraft using just a CD and a balloon! This hands-on activity is a fantastic way to explore the principles of air pressure and friction, all while having fun watching your hovercraft glide across a flat surface.
This Month's AIM Kit is building a Robotic Arm. Ever wondered how robotic arms in factories or laboratories work? In this project, you’ll build a simple but functional robotic arm that can pick up and move objects. This hands-on activity introduces the basics of robotics, engineering, and mechanics, giving you a taste of how real-world robotic systems operate. Perfect for aspiring engineers, this project will challenge you to think critically and problem-solve as you bring your robotic arm to life.
If you are requesting an AIM Kit on behalf of a school in the contiguous United States, you may request an AIM Kit be delivered to you or download our virtual AIM Kit. If you are requesting an AIM Kit as a parent, homeschooling organization, or international school, you may download our virtual AIM Kit.
